如持有根據《日內瓦公約》簽發的國際駕駛許可證，可自登陸日本當日起1年內駕駛（如駕駛執照的有效期較短，則以有效期為限）。《維也納公約》格式的國際駕駛許可證不能在日本使用。此外，瑞士、德國、法國、比利時、摩納哥及台灣的駕駛執照，附上指定的日文譯本即可駕駛。
